Cornell Men (10) v. Brown (21)

CURFC fell today to Brown 21-10 in a match that where Cornell played with intensity, pride, and determination.

Cornell came out fired up and quickly pressured Brown with their hard hitting and intensity. Fly-half Matt Mullery put Cornell ahead 3-0 after four minutes with a penalty, however Brown scored a try on the 16 minute mark through a well worked line out to take the lead 5-3. Despite constantly pressuring Brown throughout the remainder of the half Cornell were unable to break through.

In the second half Cornell came out even more intense however basic mistakes resulted in numerous penalties to be called against Cornell. The score remained close as Brown missed a series of kicking opportunities. After 56 minutes Brown scored a try against the run of play after taking advantage of some poor defending by Cornell. With the game at 18-3, Benja Davies chipped the Brown backline collected the ball on the bounce and ran it in under the posts. Matt Mullery converted making the score 18-10.

Cornell refused to give up and with continued to press for a second try however they were unable to capitalize on their ample possession.

Although it was a frustrating loss, Cornell proved to itself that it is a team that does not give up and will run hard for the full 80 minutes. As always Cornell proved that they are a team for the future and will continue to work hard throughout the remainder of the season.
